ULTIMATE WORT COOLER PROTECTION

Protect your Wort Cooler. Discover two ultimate solutions here.
WHY IS  YOUR HEAT EXCHANGER AT RISK?

During the brewing process Hot Break Trub carry over happens during cooling.  This can be mitigated by effective whirlpooling, but some carry over inevitably happens even though we try and minimise the loss at the end of cooling out of the whirlpool.

However, the Trub could be loaded with larger hop particles, or even worse, small amounts of spent grain carryover.

The plate heat exchanger easily traps these large particles between its plates during cooling, however, if CIP unsuccessfully removes the debris, you will get a larger and larger debris build up after successive brews which can lead to:

  • Slower flow rates which extends cooling times

  • Ineffective cooling rate

  • Potential blockage of and damage to the heat exchanger plates

  • A real source of microbial contamination

    • CIP can kill surface organisms on the debris buy may not reach the bottom layers of the build-up resulting in a continuous source of contamination every time you cool.  If this is not corrected it becomes a major risk to your product quality and brand reputation.

BEARDED BREW HAS 2 SOLUTIONS AVAILABLE

We have 2 solutions that provide increased protection for your heat exchanger.  We can also supply a cleanable strainer that removes the dangerous larger particles, giving another level of protection.  No heat exchanger should be operated without one!

SINGLE IN-LINE STRAINER

  • A standard, valveless, right-angle strainer with dairy union fittings and a hose tail for attaching to a size DN25 hose.

  • Benefits

    • The unit is installed on the hot side, between your kettle and the heat exchanger ensuring that larger particles are trapped, protecting your heat exchanger

    • The unit can be sterilised during normal CIP by opening both flow paths

    • Easy to clean between brews

    • In the unlikely event that the strainer does block during cooling, due to a high load from whirlpool, it can be cleaned during the cooling process.

DUPLEX IN-LINE STRAINER

  • This unit is designed for ease of operation and high soil load from the whirlpool such as extreme hopping regimes.

  • Benefits

    • The unit is installed on the hot side, between your kettle and the heat exchanger ensuring that larger particles are trapped, protecting your heat exchanger

    • Unlike the single unit, this unit has an in-use and standby strainer

    • The unit can be sterilised during normal CIP by opening both flow paths

    • Only one strainer is operated during cooling.  If the flow rate decreases, indicating a blockage, a simple valve change isolates the current strainer and redirects the flow to the standby strainer.  This allows for cleaning and preparation of the blocked strainer to be returned as a standby strainer without interrupting wort cooling.
